Welcome to Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity!
This page serves as a guide to get you set up playing the game on a system of your choice, along with instructions on how to install various patches, install the downloadable content, setup multiplayer, and where to begin once you start playing the game.
Please note that currently, online multiplayer is not possible consistently from a PSP or PS Vita. You may still play on these systems, but if you wish to play online with others, you will be required to transfer your savefile to another system temporarily.
Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity features official downloadable content that was released after the game's official release. These include:
Extra missions with unique objectives and rewards
Extra Infinity Missions with maps and bosses not obtainable through regular mission disks
Equipment from PlayStation Network, with various weapons, visual modules, costumes/parts, and room decorations, both free and paid.
Please note that the downloadable content from PlayStation Network is untranslated and will appear in-game as Japanese, even with the English Patch.
Game patches
The Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity community has provided various enhancements and edits to improve the experience, ranging from 60 FPS patches, the ability to play online-only missions in ad hoc multiplayer, improved high-definition textures, and more. Note that many of these enhancements are done through cheat codes to modify the game's memory, however, none of these cheats will impact the game negatively. The wiki will never provide tools or codes to impact the gameplay directly.
Below you may find a compilation of the various patches that are compatible with each platform.
Cheat Files for PSP - This is TempAR for the PSP with a cheat database for PSP2i included. If you are already familiar with TempAR, download the cheats by themselves here, and do not follow the instructions below, as you should already be familiar with how to set this up. Credits go to JamRules for the cheats contained in this package.
Extract the seplugins folder to the PSP's root directory (e.g. D:/ or E:/ when connected to your PC)
Boot PSP2i on your PSP, then press the PS Logo and R Button together to bring up the TempAR menu.
Turn the cheats you want on/off as appropriate. Take care not to enable conflicting cheats.
Press the ♪ button until it displays [CHEATS ON] in the top right.
Press R twice to navigate back to the [PRX] menu, scroll down to Save Settings, press the cross button, then exit TempAR with the circle button. This will make the cheats persist on reboot.

Taunt Hotfix - Fixes an issue with the specials Rage and Charm both being displayed as "Taunt" in the English Patch. (This is on by default)
Mission Hang Hotfix - Fixes a potential crashing issue in Infinity Missions. (This is on by default)

PPSSPP renders with a custom font, called Roboto Condensed, rather than the original PSP fonts. This can make a lot of the text placement ingame seem strange, as all games (and the english patch) are designed with the original PSP font in mind.
You can fix this by downloading this archive, then extracting the contents to your PPSSPP directory.
Cheat File Patches
What you will need:
Cheat File for Windows PC - Contains all cheat file patches for Windows PC. Credit goes to JamRules for the codes listed in here.
Extract the memstick folder to your PPSSPP directory.
In PPSSPP, click Game settings, then Enable cheats.
Boot up PSP2i, click Emulation, then Pause.
Click Cheats, and a list of all the patches for the game will appear. Turn them on/off as desired. Note that any similar codes will conflict with each other!

60 FPS Patch - Forces the game to render at 60 FPS. There are various issues with the patch, which are documented here.
Disable V-Blank Wait For 60 FPS - Helps curb an issue with frame drops in multiplayer with the 60 FPS Patch.
Right Analog Camera Support - Grants access to manipulate the camera with the right analog stick, with analog movement. 1x, 1.25x, 1.5x, 2x, 3x, and 4x speeds are available. Only use one at a time!
Camera Vertical Movement Release - Grants the ability to move the camera fully up or down, instead of being limited.
Custom Ratios - Expands the game to render at the chosen. Certain elements, such as the HUD, will be stretched however. To enable this, click Game settings → Display layout editor... → Options → Stretching, then restart PPSSPP. Only use one code at a time!

HD Texture Replacements
Rozalin's PSP2i Texture Restoration
User Rozalin is currently working on improving and replacing all the textures in Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity for an improved experience. This is a work in progress, so it is not fully complete.
Extract the memstick folder into your PPSSPP directory.
In PPSSPP, click Game settings → More settings... → Tools → Developer tools, then check Replace textures. Do not check Save new textures!
The HD textures will now be loaded in-game instead of the default ones.
Eleriaqueen's High-Res UI
User Eleriaqueen is currently working on improving the resolution of the UI elements in Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity for an improved experience. This is also a work in progress, so it is not fully complete.
You may find the latest release and instructions on how to install here. There are instructions listed depending on if you are using Rozalin's HD Texture Replacements mod or not.
Setting up multiplayer
While the Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity infrastructure servers are long gone, it is still people to play online with others through P2P networking through emulators. Currently, the PSP2i Wiki recommends multiplayer through PPSSPP rather than official hardware (PSP and PS Vita), as a majority of players play on emulators now. It is very difficult to crossplay with emulators and hardware at the moment.
Due to this, we will only be recommending methods that are easy to set up on PPSSPP and can easily crossplay with PPSSPP.
Zero Tier One - Zero Tier One is a virtual network management program, similar to Hamachi. It allows people to join a network and connect to each other seamlessly without requiring router setups, port forwarding, or other such confiruations. We recommend this program currently as it is free and has crossplay with mobile devices running PPSSPP.
Install Zero Tier One on your system.
The program will be in the system tray in the bottom right; right click it and click Open Control Panel.
In the window that comes up, enter the string b6079f73c6cd58c5 in the bottom box and click Join Network.
You should now see the PSP2i network come up -- click it and you will see a lot of extra information, including Managed IPs.
Now that you are connected to the PSP2i network, you will need to do some setup in PPSSPP:
In PPSSPP, click Game settings → More settings → Networking.
Change your settings on the page to the following:
Enable networking/WLAN: On
Change MAC Address: Make sure to click this at least once to get a random MAC Address
Enable built-in PRO ad hoc server: On
You are now fully setup to play multiplayer with other players! When going to play with other players, follow the below steps:
Decide who will host the game.
In PPSSPP networking settings, all players must set Change PRO ad hoc server IP address to the Zero Tier Managed IP of the host (without the /16).
Make sure that all players are using the same port offset as well; 1100 is recommended for compatibility with mobile devices.
Restart PPSSPP to make sure the settings change.
In-game, go to Multi Mode and form/join party as necessary, and you should all be good to go!
Beginner guides
Coming soon. In the meantime, it is recommended that you get familiar with the game by playing Story Mode and clearing both Episode 1 and 2. This will unlock all the missions for you, grant full access to Clad 6's shop wares, and give you a solid foot hold on the game with decent progress to boot!
